In upcoming weeks, I’ll be working on a series of features about the history, quirks and other attractions that make this area one of the most amazing regions in the country. Features will include:
- A local festival to commemorate the end of the tourist season on the Gulf Coast became one of the country’s premiere seafood celebrations, the National Shrimp Festival.
- The Pine Knot Special, the train that helped build Baldwin County a century ago.
- The Gulf Coast’s own version of Sasquatch, a half-man, half cat creature who wanders the woods of the Alabama Gulf State Park.
